The walk in is in the dark. The walk out is in the dark. So why does every other GPS blast your eyes with a white screen and wreck the night vision you spent 30 minutes earning? WildMap doesn't, and neither does this page while you're here. Drag the handle on the phone to compare.
Your eyes take 20–30 minutes to adjust to the dark, and one flash of white light undoes it. Annoying. Deep red doesn't, so you keep your vision on the walk in. Seriously, why isn't this standard?
WildMap re-colours the whole map into deep reds and ambers and drops the brightness, so nothing glares. Place names are darkened to match, and the bright map icons are hidden.
WildMap reads your GPS and the sun, and can flip to red automatically at sunset and back at sunrise, so it's on for the walk in and the walk out. Three intensity levels, or leave it on auto.
Air drains downhill overnight and climbs sunny faces by day. See it on the 3D map and plan your approach around your scent.

It's a model, not a measurement. Where the ground is too flat to call it doesn't guess, and switch times are shown as estimates.

Tap any control on the screen
Find a place, hut, peak or track, or paste coordinates, and the map flies there.
Distance, time and average speed for the track you're recording. Tap it for elevation gain and pause.
Flip between the topo map and satellite imagery. It shrinks to T and S while you record.
Tap to snap back to north. Hold it for Compass Mode: the map turns with you and shows your bearing.
Tilts the map into relief so you can read spurs, gullies and benches. Or slide two thumbs up the screen together to tilt it yourself.
Draws contour lines over the satellite image.
Tap for the last tool you used, the ruler to start with. Hold for line of sight, which shows the terrain blocking your view, and the area tool for hectares (both Standard).
Slide to fade the coloured overlays so you can see the ground underneath.
Seven-day forecast, hourly wind and moon phase. Hold it to pin the wind to the map.
Your saved pins, recorded tracks and hunt diary. Long-press the map to drop a waypoint, with more than 40 icons from wallow and rub to camp.
Switch it on, then tap the map for the land tenure and address at that spot. Lot, size and your state's hunting-zone rules come with Standard.
Switch boundaries, hunting zones, slope and aspect (Standard) and fire history (Premium) on and off. The badge counts how many are on.
Hold for a second and a half: your position in four coordinate formats, Call 000 and a pre-filled SMS.
The blue dot is you and the wedge is the way you're facing. The white line is the track you're recording.
Log sign, a sighting or a harvest right where it happened, with photos. It all lands in your hunt diary.
Saves the map on screen for when there's no reception. It turns green when the map is over an area you've saved.
See your mates on the map, with distance, direction and battery in the party list. Every phone needs reception and Premium.
Starts and stops your track. It keeps recording with the screen locked (two hours a day on the free plan).
Solid green means the map follows you as you walk. Tap again to lock it to your heading.

It doesn't magically make your phone a satellite phone, but it could really help.
Press and hold for your exact position in decimal, DMS, UTM and MGRS with one-tap copy, a Call 000 button, and a pre-filled SMS with your coordinates and a map link. Bottom-right corner, always in reach.
Lost the light or the track? Retrace your route with a live bearing and distance straight back to where you started. Works with zero reception, as long as you were recording a track.
See your mates on the map, and they see you, so no one gets left behind when you split up. It won't magically make your handset a satellite phone: every phone needs a connection. Any reception will do, and so will a Starlink nearby.
Save the map before you leave reception. GPS, waypoints and tracks keep working, and everything syncs when you're back in range.
In a Live Party you see each mate's distance, bearing and battery, and how long ago they last updated.

Your spots stay yours. Waypoints, tracks and harvest logs are never sold, and never volunteered to anyone, government included. The few exceptions, such as a court order or a life at risk, are set out in the privacy policy.
This is a very impressive thing. You've got something amazing on your hands. Very, very well done. I am yet to find anything it doesn't do.
While testing this app I used the distance tool, adjusted my scope and dropped the deer on the spot. That's about as good a testimonial as you'll get.
